Random Thoughts….
Posted by Kelly on February 19, 2007
I have titled this blog random thoughts because I got nothing….no great blog ideas, no funny little stories, nothing really interesting to tell….well I did organize my recipe binders today. I had one gigantic binder with everything in it and several recipe binders from the Teal House. I had to sort through everything when I wanted the perfect recipe, so I combined everything and sorted them into separate binders: cookies and squares, pies and cakes, meals, appetizers and soups. Yup, that was exciting but it is one more thing I can check off my project list.
I also sent out some cards. Did you ever have someone on your mind or know someone who is going through something and think, “I should send them a little note or card” and then never do it. I am the poster child for that scenario. I have really good intentions but….oh, I could think of a hundred excuses but NO MORE. I know what it felt like to get a card when you really needed it and I want to pass that along to someone else. So I sat down and wrote out notes and cards to several someones and mailed them off.
So….we had 1200 mink delivered on Saturday. In case you can’t picture it, that’s alot of mink. So the kids and I helped fill the food canisters and get the cages ready. Then when they arrived I helped unload some of them. Phew, they stink. So the new barn is full…2100 mink!
Sara told me when she is five and a boy she can go on the bus to school. No matter how much I try to tell her she will always be a girl, she insists she has to be a boy to go to school. Good luck with that one honey!
I stumbled upon a blogsite today about a couple, who except for food and household expenses, is not going to spend any money for a year. No new clothes, purses, gifts, etc. So far this year they have saved close to $4,000 (they don’t have any kids and both work). Wow!
Well, that’s enough rambling for tonight.

I am the QUEEN of good intentions when it comes to wanting to send cards. i used to do it, all the time. I loved it! I liked to try and send them anonomously
I have a confession to make…there is one for you probably still in my Bible case from when you were going through all your cancer stuff a few months back. I don’t know why I was too scared to give it to you! Isn’t that awful? I’m sorry. I’m such a chicken…

No new purses, clothes, or *gasp* shoes! I don’t know if I could do it. And at the end of the year, I’m sure I would blow all the money that I’d saved! I love to buy stuff for myself, can you tell?!!
Although, that being said, I really don’t buy much for myself. Unless it’s at Frenchie’s, although I guess that all adds up, too! Or scrap-booking stuff-you can never have enough of that! Kinda a lot of rambling just to say that I couldn’t go a whole year without buying anything–sorry!!

Jenn, one of the cards I sent was to a member of Randy’s family who was just diagnosed with cancer. I didn’t know what to say to her and I HAD cancer!! I finally just said a little prayer, wrote what was in my heart and sealed the envelope up quick.
Shannon, while the idea of no spending is intriguing and I am a little in awe of their self control…it does not sound enjoyable.

I love your ramblings! I decided this was going to be my year for learning self control in the spending area. I opened a savings account and have saved…..drum roll……..$570.00 to date since January 15th!!!!!!! (I have not bought any scrapbooking supplies) I have set a goal for the end of the year and am anxious to reach that goal, however, now that Harley is laid up I don’t seem to have nearly as much computer work to do so I may not get a paycheck for awhile! Pretty much all my cards I made at card camp, gone in the past ten days! I need to take a day and just make cards!!!

I think many of us are guilty of not dropping a line or making a phone call to someone who is on our mind. With that said…it is still my intention to call you this week. One little problem…I was at the doctor yesterday and diagnosed with strep throat…I WILL call but I have to wait until my throat no longer feels like an inferno!
Love as always,
Annette

While rummaging through my cards to find a few Christmas ones to send (yes, this happened this week in February) I found the Easter cards I made to pass out last year. So, you have inspired me to sit down and address the cards for this year – it’ll look like I’m early with Easter!

HI Kel
Yep!! I always have great intentions to send cards, actually buy them, but they never all get sent.
I would have no problem not spending any $$$, I don’t now other than the regular bills and I am beating down the morgage ASAP. I do buy more than I should for Kian and Baija, but that is my only relapse in spending. Dan often wants to buy me things, I say “no”, take whatever it is and put it back in the store. As long as I have a warm house, food and health, that is all I need.Do you know how much $$$ I have saved since the Teal House closed???? lol
Always happy to read your blog and see what is going on in your life and know that you are ok.
Love, Corinne
